Job summary
Reporting to the production supervisor, the material handler receives, prepares and schedules material orders for production according to schedule. They inspect incoming merchandise and ensure quality standards are maintained.
Responsibilities and duties
Essential
- Receive, dispatch and record unloaded merchandise
- Prepare orders according to production schedule
- Sort and place materials or items on shelves and racking according to company standards
- Ensure inventory control, daily raw material requisition and incoming material quantity
- Assist with stocktaking
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment and optimize space usage
- Keep material handling and work area well organized at all times
- Wear appropriate safety equipment
- Prepare and complete orders destined for production or pick up according to schedule (loading, packing, labeling, shipping, panel handling)
- Perform inventory controls and maintain high quality standards
- Report any discrepancies
- Communicate and cooperate with supervisors and co-workers
- Operate warehouse vehicles and equipment and perform preventive maintenance
- Follow quality service standards and comply with procedures, rules and regulations
Occasional
- Perform other duties as assigned
Skills, qualifications and working conditions
- High school degree or equivalent preferred
- 1-2 years of experience as a material handler preferred
- Good communication, organizational and time management skills
- Proficiency with inventory software, databases and systems
- Familiarity with modern warehouse practices and methods
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Ability to lift heavy objects
- Valid forklift license
- Proficiency in French (spoken and written)
- Skills: responsible, reliable, resourceful, quality and detail oriented, adaptable, team player
